Liar Liar Pants On Fire

Do you lie to yourself?

If you tell yourself that you're going to work out more, eat right, lose weight, etc., and then you don't do it...well, then, Liar Liar Pants On Fire!! Have you heard anyone over the age of 12 actually say this? You have now, because I'm waaaaaaaayyyyyy over the age of 12.

Anyway, you've got to respect yourself enough to not tell yourself lies. Let's look at it from a more positive angle. When you hold yourself accountable, you will get results, and you will feel great about it.

Here's a little exercise to try:

#1. Pick one goal for today. Anything good will do. Be sure that you state it in a positive way, and state what you WILL do, not what you will NOT do or NOT eat. Here are some examples......"I will exercise for 1 hour," "I will call around to local gyms to get prices," "I will do 50 sit-ups," "I will eat 8 servings of fruits and vegetables."

#2. Write it down. It's been proven over and over, that writing down goals helps us to achieve them.

#3. Say it out loud.

#4. Repeat this process every day.

Congratulations, because you have just sealed a promise to yourself. Now you are accountable to act on the promise and to make these good things happen. Do this every day, and you are going to see amazing results!

I use this technique all of the time. Sometimes, when I don't feel like working out, I will go to my workout log, and write down the workout that I want to do, but am too lazy to do. Guess what happens next? Yep. Once I write it down, then I must go and do it, because I will not lie to myself or to others.

I know that seems kind of convoluted. But it works. It's about integrity and holding myself accountable. If I say I'm going to do it, then I will do it. If I write it down, then I am committed to the task as well.

So take it one little goal each day. That's all it will take to make a wonderful change in your health and fitness!
