Misery Loves Company

I made it to the morning Masters Swim workout today. It was cold and foggy out, but I made myself go to the pool anyway.

As I was getting ready in the locker room, I noticed that I was really moving as slow as molasses. And it was no secret why....I was stalling, and kind of dreading heading outside and getting in the pool....the cold awaited me out there.

I forced myself to get out there and get on with it, and I'm glad I did. I always feel so great after doing a swim workout. During the workout, well, it feels great, in a "OMG this hurts" kind of way. 3200 yards later...mission accomplished.

As soon as I got out of the pool, I was cold again, and I headed straight to the hot tub to warm up. The topic of conversation amongst the other swimmers in there was, that it's so hard to get in the pool in the morning when it's cold outside, and that the first 50 yards are miserably cold.

This is when I realized that, geez, I'm not the only one who hates this cold morning ritual. And this brought a smile to my face. Maybe I'm not such a wimp after all. Or, maybe it's just that misery loves company!

We all agreed that, once you get moving, it's all good!
