Conversation at Bike Shop.....
Me: "Dave, how can I get faster so that I can keep up with the other riders on the Saturday morning ride?"
Dave: "Ride more often."
Me: "I don't want to ride more often."
Dave: "Then, when you do ride, work harder. Really push it. Work the hills. Ride Harder."
Me: "Ugh...I don't want to work harder."
Dave: "Oh well."
Me: "Isn't there some magic piece of equipment that I can buy that'll make me go faster?"
Dave: "Not really."
At the time, I knew this was pretty much a stupid conversation. But, it wasn't until today that I realized how closely this conversation resembles the conversation that many of you have had regarding losing weight. You want to lose weight, but don't want to make the necessary changes in your diet and lifestyle to make it happen. You want the "Magical Weight Loss Secret."
I know I've told ya'll this before, but I'll mention it again...there is NOT an easy and magical way to lose weight. To see results, you have to be willing to make changes. I'm sure you've heard this one before too, "The definition of insanity, is doing the same thing over and over, but expecting different results."
So, take a good honest look at what you eat, how much you eat, how much you exercise, and start today by making small adjustments to each side of the equation. I promise you that this is what will get you results.
In addition to personal training sessions that will get you moving and burning more calories, I'm also available to help with the nutritional side of things. Together we will design an eating plan that will help you meet your goals. Don't panic....I'm not talking about "dieting." I don't believe in "dieting." I believe in eating healthy amounts of healthy foods!
As for me, nope, there's no magical cycling equipment to make me faster. If I want results, I will have to make changes....ride more often and ride harder. That was not the answer I was hoping for, but it is the truth!!
