Boo!!! I'm Back!!!!

Long time, no see or hear. Apologies for the long absence. I just got busy doing other things and never seemed to find the time to write. But, I'm here now, so you can sit back and relax and enjoy the blog!

I have a very short one for you today. It's called "Avoid Most White Foods."

Plain and simple, whether you're trying to lose weight, or just trying to eat a healthy diet, there are a lot of white foods that are looking to do you in. I'm talking about white bread, white potatoes, white rice, white pasta, and other processed goodies made with white flour.

There are a few issues with these foods....

#1 is that they have very little nutritive value. Better to fill up on nutritiously dense foods.

#2 is that when we eat these types of foods, there seems to be no cut-off switch going to our brains. In other words, our brains never get the message that we're full and to stop eating. And we will just eat more and more. I know you know what I mean...the bottomless bread basket and bottomless bowl of pasta! Remember, I said that these foods are not nutritionally dense, however, they are still loaded with calories...empty calories.

#3 is that many of these foods act just like sugar in your body (they are sugar...carbohydrates). Sugar spikes the insulin in your body, which, in turn, makes your body store fat.

Make the choice today to generally avoid these white foods. I did not say "eliminate" them, as I don't believe in all or nothing when it comes to food and exercise. But, trust me, severely cutting back on these foods will do you good!

So, what will you eat instead? Whole grain bread. Quinoa in place of rice or pasta. Spaghetti squash instead of pasta. Yams instead of white potatoes. I even have a recipe for "hash brown potatoes" that are actually made with radishes!!

Get creative, change your habits, reap the rewards!!
